Each year members of the Bedford Life Saving Crew nominate fellow members for Crew Member of the Year and Rookie of the Year. This recognition by peers is a testimony to the professionalism, quality, and performance of those who receive the awards. This

year’s winners are Shannon Walker as Crew Member of the Year and Christina Cherro as Rookie of the Year.

Shannon Walker, a Bedford City Police Officer and Squad 1’s First Lieutenant and Supply & Equipment Lieutenant, received comments by the members who nominated him as showing growth as a provider in obtaining EMT-B and furthering his education to the Intermediate level; being dependable and performing extra call duty; providing excellent patient care skills; and mentoring other members. His Squad 1 fellow members also noted his exceptional job done all year long with intense dedication to our mission and as having a true, deep passion to this community he serves. Shannon has been a member of the crew since 2003.

Christina Cherro was nominated and received Rookie of the Year for her hard work

in

obtaining her EMT-B and Emergency Vehicle Operations Certificates; demonstrating dedication to others; taking pride in patient care; and being energetic, dependable, and always wanting to uphold the professionalism of the crew. Christina has been a member

of Squad 1 and her positive impact on the service provided is highly regarded and felt throughout the ranks.
