On July 8, 2008, The Bedford Life Saving and First Aid Crew will have served the citizens of the City of Bedford and the surrounding areas of Bedford County for 65 years! We have been able to do so through the decades thanks to the talents, training, and professionalism of the volunteers who are Squad 1. Our goal for this year, as always, is to continue to provide the highest level of care possible. The main ingredient in this process is PEOPLE and we need more volunteers to help by giving their time for training and the most important community service one can do: Saving Lives.
Squad 1 members come from all lifestyles—students, working parents, retirees—and perform with a level of dedication that is unmatched anywhere. Our members are
professionally trained and certified EMS providers who work hard every day to keep up their training and continue to answer the calls for help. You too could become a member of this team. You do not need to have any prior experience or certification just a willingness to learn and serve. A system is in place that offers Emergency Medical Technician training leading to state certification. You can join the crew, enter training, and soon be running calls and saving lives.
Our main goal for 2008 is Recruitment and Retention and we are dedicating a great deal of time into inspiring others to join the squad. I along with the other members of the Bedford Life Saving Crew would love to have you contact us about this great public service opportunity. After all, the is a life saving “crew” and that means people.
All the best,
Shannon Zimmerman, Captain
